Casa de Amparo is currently seeking one Part-Time (Evening, Weekend) Residential Medical Tech Counselor to join their dedicated team. GENERAL FUNCTION: This position assists in creating and maintaining a safe, structured, and trauma-informed environment for youth in Casa de Amparo’s residential treatment program. The Residential Med Tech/Visitation Counselor supports the self-administration of medications in accordance with physician orders and agency policies while also providing direct resident care, transportation, supervision, crisis intervention, documentation, and administrative support. This role ensures compliance with licensing and healthcare standards while promoting the well-being, safety, and individualized care of reside.
QUALIFICATIONS:
• Must be able to be associated with Casa de Amparo through Community Care Licensing (CCL), which typically includes clearance by FBI, DOJ and CACI.
• California Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA) or Home Health Aide (HHA) preferred.
• Education and/or experience requirements:
• Knowledge of developmental needs of children ages 0-18 years throughout developmental stages preferred.
• Must possess maturity, sound judgment, and the ability to serve as a positive role model.
• Must demonstrate professionalism with the ability to effectively set limits and function in crisis and high-stress situations.
• Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and work shifts up to 10 hours in length.
• Must possess ambulatory, auditory, and visual skills necessary to observe and physically intervene with residents when required.
• English proficient; bilingual and bicultural preferred.
• Must have the physical ability to participate in activities and perform related physical skills including crouching, lifting up to 50 pounds, crawling on hands and knees, and walking up and down stairs.
• Ability to comply with all employment requirements including CPR/Pediatric First Aid, physical, TB and drug screening, clear DMV record, and approval from insurance to drive agency vehicles.
• Must provide proof of influenza, pertussis, and measles immunization.
• Must be at least 21 years of age.
• Successful completion of Medication Technician training once hired, which will be provided by Casa de Amparo.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Medication Administration & Healthcare Support
1. Assist residents with the self-administration of medications in accordance with physician orders, Casa de Amparo policies, and the Residential Services Health Care and Medication Training Plan.
2. Maintain accurate medication documentation including E-MAR completion, medication counts, medication storage, changes, discontinuations, and approved pass medications.
3. Observe residents for changes in condition or adverse medication reactions and report concerns promptly to appropriate staff.
4. Maintain inventory and organization of medication carts, healthcare supplies, PRNs, and medication room supplies, including requesting refills as needed.
5. Maintain a safe, sanitary, and compliant medication room and cottage environment in accordance with infection prevention standards.
6. Provide basic first aid and CPR as necessary.
Resident Care & Supervision
7. Assist in maintaining the safety and supervision of residents and their children within Residential Services.
8. Support residents in daily living activities including meals, hygiene, chores, recreation, school attendance, appointments, visits, court appearances, and approved community activities.
9. Provide crisis intervention, de-escalation, and behavioral support as needed.
10. Serve as a positive role model while providing trauma-informed and culturally responsive care.
11. Maintain awareness of residents’ treatment plans, Emergency Intervention Plans, personal rights, and individualized care needs.
12. Collaborate with clinical and mental health staff to support consistent implementation of treatment goals and interventions.
13. Complete accurate and timely documentation including Observation Notes, daily progress notes, Serious Incident Reports, Health Center Referrals, maintenance requests, supply requests, and other required reports.
14. Communicate significant incidents, medical concerns, and operational needs to Shift Supervisors and management in a timely manner.
15. Monitor resident clothing inventories and submit requests for unmet supply needs.
16. Report janitorial, hygiene, maintenance, and facility concerns through established procedures.
17. Maintain compliance with HIPAA, DHCS, CCL, The Joint Commission, and Casa de Amparo policies and procedures.
Transportation & Program Operations
18. Transport residents to family visits, medical appointments, school, court, and community activities using agency and/or personal vehicles in accordance with agency policies.
19. Participate in coverage and scheduling needs to ensure required staff-to-client ratios are maintained.
20. Attend all required staff meetings, trainings, and in-service sessions.
21. Perform additional administrative and program support duties as assigned by management.

This position contributes to the delivery of safe, trauma-informed, and culturally respectful care for residents and their children in Residential Services. Through effective supervision, medication support, crisis intervention, and collaboration with multidisciplinary staff, this role promotes resident safety, well being, treatment progress, and compliance with regulatory standards.
