Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of individuals experiencing homelessness and hunger in Atlanta? Intown Cares is seeking applicants for its full-time Director of Homeless Services position. Intown is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit with a mission to prevent and reverse homelessness and hunger in Intown Atlanta. Founded in 2010, Intown has grown tremendously, more than doubling in size over the past five years. Intown’s homeless services are guided by a Housing First and Harm Reduction philosophy, is one of the largest and most effective teams in the City of Atlanta, and has housed over 1,200 people experiencing unsheltered homelessness since 2017. The Director of Homeless Services will join an experienced, successful, and energetic team while leading with wisdom and compassion.

What You’ll Do

The Director of Homeless Services directly supervises four program managers who supervise Intown’s front-line staff of 15. The Director oversees the team’s efforts to engage, assess, enroll, and navigate people experiencing homelessness from the streets to permanent housing with needed supports. Working closely with Intown’s Grants Manager and Data Analyst, the Director oversees compliance and reporting for partnerships and government grants. This position will work with program managers and Intown leadership on strategic program development, execution, evaluation, and expansion. This individual must be flexible, innovative, and adept at creative problem-solving.

Qualifications

A passion for connecting with people experiencing unsheltered and chronic homelessness
5+ years working in homeless services
5+ years of experience in senior organizational administration and management
Demonstrated success as a supervisor
Expertise in strategic program management and development
Ability to develop relationships and partnerships among agencies, elected officials, and other organizations
Ability to work with team members from many backgrounds
Grant management experience

3-5 years working in the mental/behavioral health and/or substance abuse field preferred
Proficiency with Client Track or another Homeless Management Information System preferred
Experience with Housing First, Harm Reduction, and client-centered care preferred
Clinical License—Licensed Social Worker or Licensed Clinical Social Worker preferred
Certified Peer Specialists and individuals with lived experience are encouraged to apply

Director of Homeless Services Responsibilities
Directly supervise the four homeless services program managers and provide support for the supervision of the full 19-person Homeless Services team comprised of Team Leaders, Certified Peer Specialists, and Case Managers
Ensure overall program compliance with homeless outreach programs and grants
Work as part of the Leadership Team to develop programs and projects to support the current work and expansion of the Homeless Services programs
Alongside Program Managers, identify opportunities for program development and expansion
Attend, participate, and represent Intown in Continuum of Care committee meetings pertaining to homeless services and systemic changes
Represent Intown in educational opportunities in the community as appropriate
Develop and maintain partnerships with well-aligned agencies
Ensure the timeliness and quality of monthly, quarterly, and annual reports to clearly and effectively communicate programmatic outcomes with funders and community supporters
With program leadership, troubleshoot barriers for any client issues that arise
Educate current and potential funders on Intown’s homeless services program model, program outcomes and program successes
Participate in the annual Continuum of Care Point in Time count

Position Status
The Director of Homeless Services is a full-time (40 hours per week), salaried position that reports to the Executive Director.

Work Hours and Location
The Director of Homeless Services will work out of Intown’s Atlanta office. Most work will take place during normal business hours (between 8 a.m. – 5 p.m.) but will also include some evening, early morning, and, occasionally, weekend hours. There is some flexibility in start and end time and possible administrative work-from-home days.

Compensation and Benefits

The Director of Homeless Services is a salaried position with an annual base salary range of $78,000-85,000, which will be paid in equal installments every two weeks according to Intown’s regularly scheduled paydays. Benefits include healthcare, dental, and vision insurance—with employer contributions—as well as healthcare and dependent care FSAs, 403b retirement plan, professional development resources, and generous personal and vacation days off.
This position is exempt and therefore not eligible for overtime pay for any additional hours worked. The position is eligible for all employee benefits, mileage reimbursement in accordance with the applicable IRS mileage rate at the time expenses are incurred for pre-approved business travel, and a portion of personal mobile phone bill.
