The zero8hundred program is a fiscally sponsored project of Mission Edge. zero8hundred is an innovative initiative to coordinate community resources for veterans and their families, creating a system that will directly connect service members and their spouses to critical transition resources as they exit the military. The services coordinated and offered under this program include referrals to job placement, education, and social services Ė all part of a holistic veterans wellness model. zero8hundred will be offering our support services to service members and their spouses who will make Riverside County and Imperial County their home.  We will also be conducting outreach to Army, Air Force, Reserve and National Guard members in San Diego, Orange, Imperial and Riverside Counties.  We are hiring Peer Navigators to conduct outreach to these communities and populations and to assist veterans and military spouses before, during, and after transition.


Reporting to the Lead Navigator, Peer Navigators are responsible for the provision of direct case management services and support to veterans and their families. The Peer Navigator will provide support to individuals through telephone/email and in-person meetings to assist veterans and their families in their transition from military to civilian life. Areas of support include education and jobs, mental and physical health, basic needs and personal connections.  zero8hundred provides counseling and mentoring services, while referring veterans to trusted service providers and opportunities in these critical areas. Follow-up support from the Peer Navigator ensures services are delivered in an effective and coordinated fashion.  These positions also have significant outreach and administrative support responsibilities outlined below.


The Peer Navigator will work with a team of Peer Navigators who are either employees at zero8hundred or interns from Masters of Social Work (MSW) programs. All Peer Navigators provide direct counseling, evaluation and referral services and case management.


The hours for this full-time Peer Navigator position are expected to be from 9:00 to 5:30 pm, Monday through Friday. These days/hours may be adjusted by the zero8hundred staff.  The work location for this position is expected to be 4420 Hotel Circle Court, Suite 250, San Diego CA 92108.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities



Physical Requirements and Work Environment: Work is typically performed in an office setting; employee regularly sits at a computer station and operates electronic equipment; occasionally lifts, carries and positions objects weighing up to 20 pounds. Position involves regular use of a computer and keyboard, telephone, and face-to-face communications; employee should be able to communicate clearly and professionally in all of these manners. The employee may spend periods of time sitting, standing, walking and driving. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. 


Compensation: The salary for this full-time, hourly, non-exempt position is an annual equivalent salary of $48,000. Company benefits include paid time off, medical benefits, a company retirement plan, business mileage reimbursement, and clinical supervision. 


Additional Information: This position requires a criminal background check prior to hire. No relocation offered.
